Aux confins du Périgord et du Limousin, Champniers-Reilhac fut l’une des plus grandes châtellenies de la région.

Le village de Reilhac commune de Champniers-Reilhac, recèle une église entièrement romane (X^ème siècle). Au XIII^ème siècle, elle était le siège d’une commanderie des Templiers puis, lors de la disparition de l’ordre, elle échoua aux Hospitaliers. La beauté de cet édifice prend tout son sens lorsque le mica de ses pierres de granit taillées avec soin brille au soleil couchant.
Jouxtant les vestiges du château, l’église de Champniers se dresse fièrement, arborant un clocher carré fortifié et un plan en croix de Malte puis en croix latine grâce à l’allongement de la nef.
De nombreuses fontaines de dévotion ont attiré nombre de personnes.
A proximité, Château-Rocher est une aimable fantaisie du XIX^ème siècle.

On the borders of the Périgord and the Limousin, Champniers-Reilhac was once one of the most important lordships of the region.

Not to be missed

. The village of Reilhac has a church entirely in Romanesque style (10th C). In the 13th C it was the seat of a Templar commanderie, then with the disappearance of the order it was taken over by the Hospitaliers. The beauty of the construction is shown at its best when the mica in the finely worked masonry gleams in the light of setting sun.
. Adjoining the remains of the château, Champniers church rises proudly, boasting a rectangular fortified tower with a ground plan in the form of a Maltese cross, then of a Latin cross with the extension of the nave.
. Numerous holy springs have attracted large numbers of people.
. Nearby, Château-Rocher a ornate 19th C. manor.
